New Hair: A Reason to Get Dressed!

True confessions time. I just typed the following words as an introduction to this post: “Happy Dreary Monday, blog readers!”. The problem with that? Today is Tuesday, has been all day. Except that until noon today, I thought it was Wednesday. I was impatiently waiting for Hulu to post last night’s episode of The Biggest Loser when it finally dawned on me that, again, today is Tuesday. This non-traditional work schedule is really screwing with my sense of time.

In other (and better) news, I treated myself to a much needed trip to the salon today! I lost about 4 inches from the length, and found my layers and bangs again. It’s time for me to color it again and I just couldn’t see wasting all that dye on those color-soaking dead ends.

I love how healthy and bouncy my hair gets when I have it cut. It’s been about two years since I’ve had more than a trim and it sorely needed it. I love being able to run my fingers through my naturally straight but thick and coarse hair and not have it get caught in all the little knots that form in the ends. if you don’t know what I mean by that, consider yourself lucky. Well, unless you have worse hair problems, or no-hair problems. In those cases, you have my sympathy.

This makes two days in a row that I have decided to wear my former “work” clothes. Back in my office days, this was one of my favorite skirts. It fits a little more snugly┬áthat it did this time last year, but we’re working on that. And by “we,” I mean me and my treadmill. The skirt may look vintage but it’s not, it’s from B. Moss. The top is vintage though, and one of my Fashion Prophet finds. See, sometimes I will go into a store with a specific piece in mind and magically find it as soon as I walk in. It happened last Easter when I wanted a bright blue Mad Men-esque dress and found it on clearance at Target. It happened the day I bought this shirt to. I envisioned an off-white sheer blouse with a deep V in the back. So I pulled into Goodwill, walked straight for the white top rack, and picked this shirt up! There’s lace in the V, but that’s fine, I just wanted something that would show my tattoo a bit.

my Sweet Dee layers

I’ve been watching my way through the first 5 seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia lately, and every time Sweet Dee’s head is shown from behind I covet her layers. Mine had completely grown out and I missed them so. Without layers, my hair is so heavy and hard to style. With them, well, it’s not. čÖé
