The Fainting Goat (A Clothing & Home Boutique) was founded in 2007 by two friends attempting to escape the confines of cubicle walls and fluorescent lighting. In its first two years, the Goat experienced mild success as an online retailer (they were big in New Zealand) and hosted several invitation only Dress-Up Party events in its secret underground storefront.
When we first opened in 2007, we sold gently used and vintage clothing, like this…
Just for fun, here are a few pics of our first space. Yes, it was underground. Literally.
The Fainting Goat took a break in 2009, with one friend retiring to be a full time mom to her newborn twin daughters and the other going back to school to earn an MBA, but returned in early 2010 with more vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces that are, like real fainting goats, truly unforgettable!
After our brief hiatus in 2009, The Fainting Goat Boutique reopened in 2010, focusing now on vintage clothing, housewares, and accessories, with the occasional handmade item here and there. You can check out our online shop here.
What about all that unsold gently used inventory, though? Well, check out our Yard Sale page here. Each week we share a handful of items that are up for grabs for a few days only.
Starting in 2011, we will be taking our next step… handmade/remade vintage clothing! Our first collection will be available in early 2011. You can follow this blog to read more about this exciting adventure as it progresses!
